<tr> <td valign="top" width="90%" align="center" height="474"> بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم عزيزى القارئ: مضى أكثر من 12 سنة منذ ان صدرت الطبعة الثالثة، وقعت خلالها عدة أحداث مهمة تتعلق بما جاء في هذا الكتاب، وقد رأيت أنهُ من واجبي تجاه القارئ أن أنوه عن هذه الاحداث وأُعقِب عليها، ويمكن إجمال هذه الاحداث فيما يلى: q أصدرت محكمة عسكرية بتاريخ 16/7/83 حكما غيابيا على مؤلف الكتاب بالاشغال الشاقة لمدة ثلاث سنوات بتهمة إفشاء أسرار عسكرية.. وترتب علي إذاعتها الإضرار بأمن وسلامة البلاد. q نشر الفريق أول محمد فوزى (الذى كان يشغل منصب وزير الحربية والقائد العام للقوات المسلحة من يونيو 76 حتى مايو 1970) عام 1983 كتابا أسماه "حرب الثلاث سنوات" (يقصد 76-70). q نشر المشير محمد عبد الغنى الجمسى (الذى كان يشغل منصب رئيس هيئة عمليات القوات المسلحة اثناء حرب اكتوبر 1973 برتبة لواء) عام 1992 كتابا عن حرب أكتوبر أسماه "يوميات حرب أكتوبر". جاء علي لسان الفريق أول فوزى والمشير عبد الغنى الجمسى- سواء في كتابيهما ام جاء علي لسانيهما في محاضرات أو أحاديث لوسائل الاعلام- ما يعتبر مخالفا لما جاء في كتاب الفريق الشاذلى في المواضيع التالية: q يقول الفريق أول فوزى انه كانت هناك خطة هجومية قبل عام 1970، بينما يقول كل من الشاذلى والجمسى عكس ذلك. q يقول الجمسى ان فشل هجومنا نحو المضايق يوم 14 من اكتوبر يرجع الي تاخر الهجوم حتى هذا التاريخ، وانه لو تم الهجوم يوم 9 أو 10 من أكتوبر لكانت فرصته في النجاح أفضل، ولكن الشاذلى يرفض ذلك ويقول ان قرار الهجوم وهو قرار سياسي – كان خطأ وانه كان محكوما عليه بالفشل سواء تم يوم 9 أم قبل هذا التاريخ ام بعده. ولكى أناقش هذه النقاط الخلافية كان أمامى أحد حلين: فإما ان اناقش كل نقطة من تلك النقاط الخلافية في الفصل والمكان الذى ورد فيه ذكر هذه النقطة في كتابى في الطبعات السابقة.. وإما أن اُضيف باباً اخر في الكتاب (في هذه الطبعة الرابعة) أناقش فيه تلك النقاط، واخترت الحل الثاني حتى يبقى كتابي عن حرب اكتوبر مرجعا ثابتا للباحثين والمؤرخين ترتبط وقائعه
